Job Description
Software Engineer Job Responsibilities
+ Design, develop, test, integrate, and maintain software solutions that meet functional, performance, and quality requirements.
+ Apply sound software engineering principles and best practices throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
+ Develop embedded software solutions using C++ in real-time operating system (RTOS) environments.
+ Support software development involving processor and board-level architectures.
+ Lead and provide technical guidance to a small engineering team.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, program leadership, and external stakeholders to develop reliable and scalable solutions.
+ Participate in software integration and testing activities, including integration with custom hardware and FPGA interfaces.
+ Support Agile software development practices, including Scrum, Continuous Integration, and Test-Driven Development.
+ Contribute to software architecture, system design, performance optimization, and technical documentation. Qualifications Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or a related technical field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or an advanced degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
+ Experience working across multiple phases of the software development lifecycle.
+ Prior experience leading a small engineering team.
+ Strong software development experience using C++.
+ Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), embedded programming, and processor/board architecture and design.
+ Working knowledge of Linux, VxWorks, or other real-time operating systems.
+ Experience working in collaborative, cross-functional environments involving multiple engineering disciplines, program teams, and external stakeholders.
+ Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance required prior to start date.
+ U.S. citizenship required due to security clearance requirements. Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with Unified Modeling Language (UML) and Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOA/D).
+ Understanding of systems engineering design artifacts, including Use Cases and SysML diagrams.
+ Experience with Agile development methodologies, including Scrum, Continuous Integration, and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
+ Experience with DevOps, Jenkins, and automated testing.
+ Experience with Model-Driven Development.
+ Experience integrating software with custom hardware.
+ Experience with FPGA interfaces, including memory-mapped interfaces and software/firmware messaging.
+ Experience with microservice architectures and containerized applications.
+ Knowledge of Versal and ARM assembly.
+ Software performance optimization experience.
+ Experience with CORBA.
+ Experience with scripting languages such as Python. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Marlborough, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $90.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
