Job Description

Seeking a motivated Engineering undergraduate student to support a research project on Multiphysics modeling and insulation design optimization of glass melting furnaces. The project focuses on improving thermal efficiency and reducing energy loss using computational analysis and data-driven design approaches. Career Readiness Competencies Adjust tone and approach based on audience (e.g., peers vs. supervisors). Analyze problems and propose practical solutions. Follow instructions, meet deadlines, and deliver quality work. Use campus tools and systems effectively to complete job tasks. Assist with running simulations using an already developed computational model Support parametric studies by modifying input conditions (Glass furnace wall thickness, and furnace materials configurations) Perform data analysis, visualization, and interpretation of results Help compare and rank different insulation design configurations Assist in preparing reports, figures, and documentation Support general research activities as needed Undergraduate student in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering field Basic understanding of Engineering design concepts Strong interest in mechanical and manufacturing research, or applied engineering research Familiarity with Excel, MATLAB, or Python for data analysis (preferred but not required) This position provides hands-on experience in applied engineering research, data analysis, and energy-efficient design, with exposure to real-world industrial problems.
