Position Summary:

Arkansas State University - Mountain Home (ASUMH) is seeking a qualified Adjunct Instructor in Machining Technology to provide high quality instruction in machining, manufacturing, and CNC technologies while fostering student success in a safe, hands-on learning environment. The instructor is responsible for teaching classroom and laboratory courses, preparing students for careers in precision machining, and ensuring instruction that aligns with current industry standards and workforce needs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Teach assigned machining technology courses including lecture and laboratory instruction.

Deliver instruction in areas:

Manual machining (lathe, milling machine, drill press, surface grinder) CNC machining and programming Precision measurement and quality control Machine setup and operation Manufacturing processes and shop mathematics Workplace safety and OSHA-compliant practices Develop and deliver lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that support course learning outcomes. Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate attendance, grading, and academic records in accordance with university policies. Inspect, maintain, and properly use machine shop equipment and tools. Enforce safety polices and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and program leadership. Perform other instructional duties assigned by the department chair or dean.

Expertise in machining principles and manufacturing processes. Ability to demonstrate machining techniques safely and effectively. Commitment to student success and hands-on-learning. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Ability to integrate current industry standards into instruction. Proficiency with instructional technology and learning management systems is preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with students from diverse educational and professional backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will possess an associate degree in Machining Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Technology, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and extensive industry experience. Three years of recent experience in precision machining, CNC machining, tool and die, or advanced manufacturing. Must have demonstrated knowledge of manual machining, CNC equipment, precision measurement, blueprint reading, and shop safety.
