Production & Machine Operations Tool & Die Lead
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Analyzes blueprint of part or die to plan sequence of operations and estimate lead time for tooling design and completion. Measures and scribes metal stock to layout design of die. Submits purchase requisition to purchasing when needing outside sourcing (i.e. Wire EDM, Grinding, etc.) Sets up and operates variety of machine tools such as a surface grinder, vertical mill, engine lathe, heat treat oven, and punch press to manufacture die components. Bolts and dowels die parts to assemble die. Inspects and tests assembled die with sample part and measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications. Makes dies containing mechanical or hydraulic components. Makes progressive type dies and dies that blank, form, pierce, draw, lance, stake, crimp or trim sheet metal and other metal components. Makes templates to verify dimensions. Ability to use required equipment to lift and/or transport extra heavy dies or die components. Capable of setting up dies in presses if needed. Inspects first article part and completes necessary paperwork. Able to communicate with outside vendors for die and fixturing machining requirements. Interacts with supervisors to fulfill tooling, fixturing, and die requirements. Works with minimum supervision. Follows safety rules and regulations.
