About Lost Angels Career Center Lost Angels Career Center (LACC) is a California nonprofit organization serving transitional age youth in the Antelope Valley through hands-on vocational training, employment pathways, and wraparound support. Our CNC program prepares participants for careers in aerospace, advanced manufacturing, and precision fabrication, which are industries that are hiring and paying well. The Lead CNC Instructor is the person who makes that preparation real. Position Summary The Lead CNC Instructor is responsible for delivering hands-on CNC instruction at LACC's Antelope Valley campus and setting the standard for how the CNC program runs. This role covers a wide technical range: laser cutting, lathe, mill, 3D printing, metrology, blueprint reading, and precision measurement tools. The Lead CNC Instructor teaches these disciplines directly to students, develops and maintains curriculum aligned to industry standards, oversees the day-to-day operation of the CNC lab, and ensures that every student who completes the program is genuinely ready to work. This role reports to the Lead Tech Lab Instructor and is a key part of LACC's broader tech and fabrication instructional team. In This Role, You Will Deliver direct, hands-on CNC instruction to program participants across all relevant disciplines, including laser cutting, lathe operation, mill operation, 3D printing, blueprint reading, metrology, and the use of precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauge blocks, pin gauges, dial indicators, go-no go gauges, ball gauges, bore gauges, and 3D scanning equipment. Develop and maintain project-based curriculum and skills assessments that reflect current industry standards, identify gaps or updates needed, and ensure every lesson is practical, measurable, and tied to real workforce outcomes. Supervise and mentor students in daily lab activities, monitor individual skill progression against program benchmarks, and provide the individual support students need to stay on track and complete the program. Oversee the day-to-day operation of the CNC lab, including tool maintenance, equipment checks, supply and inventory management, shop organization, and ensuring the workspace is clean, safe, and operationally ready at all times. Enforce safety protocols in the CNC lab consistently and without exception, address hazards immediately, and ensure all students and staff operating in the lab understand and follow applicable safety requirements. Collaborate with the Lead Tech Lab Instructor, Shop Foreman, case managers, and job developers to align CNC instruction with broader program goals, student career readiness, and workforce placement outcomes. Basic Qualifications 5 or more years of hands-on professional experience in CNC machining, fabrication, 3D printing, and CAD design, with demonstrated proficiency across laser, lathe, mill, and metrology disciplines. Demonstrated ability to teach or train others in a technical hands-on environment, including experience adapting instruction for students with varying learning styles, backgrounds, and levels of prior experience. Working knowledge of precision measurement tools and metrology practices, including micrometers, calipers, gauge blocks, pin gauges, dial indicators, go-no go gauges, ball gauges, bore gauges, and 3D scanning. Experience maintaining a safe and organized technical lab environment, including equipment upkeep, materials inventory, and consistent enforcement of safety standards. Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Preferred Qualifications Vocational certification, industry credential, or formal training in CNC machining, precision manufacturing, or a closely related discipline. Previous experience in a workforce development, vocational training, or youth-serving instructional environment. Familiarity with emerging CNC and 3D printing applications in aerospace, automotive, or advanced manufacturing sectors. Experience developing project-based curriculum or skills assessments aligned to industry certification standards. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required. Compensation and Benefits LACC offers the following to eligible employees: Hourly rate of $38.00-$48.00, based on experience. In accordance with California AB 1197, this pay range is posted in compliance with LACC's commitment to pay transparency. Placement within the range is determined by qualifications and experience. Overtime compensation in accordance with California law for all hours worked over 8 in a day or 40 in a week. LACC pays 100% of medical insurance premiums for eligible full-time employees. Coverage is available for additional plan participants at the employee's cost. 40 hours of paid time off (PTO) annually, accrued per pay period. Paid sick leave in accordance with California SB 616 (40 hours annually, front-loaded). Paid holidays as designated in the organizational calendar.
