The successful candidate will be responsible for tool setup, troubleshooting, fabrication, modification, repair, and production support . This position requires strong precision machining skills, the ability to read blueprints and GD&T, and experience making tooling adjustments in a production stamping environment. Key Responsibilities Set up, troubleshoot, maintain, modify, and repair progressive, compound, secondary, and four-slide dies . Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and strip layouts . Read and understand the strip in and out of the press and make required tooling adjustments. Fabricate and repair tooling components using tool room equipment . Maintain dimensional accuracy to ±0.0002" where required. Set up and operate 60-330 ton stamping presses . Set up and operate secondary/open tooling for pre-forming, final forming, knurling, and related operations . Fabricate, modify, and time four-slide cams . Set up and operate Nielson four-slide machines . Troubleshoot tooling and production issues and implement corrective actions. Support production to achieve required quality, productivity, and dimensional standards . Apply SPC and other process-control methods in a production environment. Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Engineering to resolve tooling and process issues. Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous-improvement activities, including Kaizen, Kanban, SMED, and 5S. Support Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) and concurrent engineering activities. Follow applicable safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures. Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of Tool & Die Maker experience . Experience with progressive stamping tooling is required. Experience with progressive, secondary, compound, or four-slide tooling . Completed Tool & Die Maker apprenticeship / journeyperson qualification . Strong blueprint and GD&T interpretation skills. Strong tool fabrication and fitting skills. Ability to work to ±0.0002" tolerance on applicable tooling components. Experience setting up 60-330 ton stamping presses . Strong understanding of strip reading and in-press tooling adjustments . Working knowledge and practical experience with SPC . Working knowledge of ISO quality standards . Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles. Strong troubleshooting, mechanical, and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated, dependable, and production-oriented. Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. unassisted . Preferred Qualifications Experience in medical device and aerospace manufacturing . Familiarity with ISO 13485 and AS9100 environments. WNTRESS Control experience. Fein blank tooling and machine setup experience. Four-slide cam fabrication and timing experience. Experience setting up various Nielson four-slide machines . BIHLER experience or demonstrated ability to learn BIHLER equipment. Experience with secondary operations including pre-forming, final forming, and knurling . Knowledge of manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, production standards, cost of quality, and manufacturing methods. Experience with concurrent engineering and DFMA . Physical Requirements Ability to safely work around stamping presses and tool room equipment. Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform hands-on tooling work for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. unassisted . Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a skilled, hands-on Tool & Die Maker with strong progressive stamping experience who can independently troubleshoot tooling, make precision adjustments, fabricate components, and support production. Strong attention to detail, precision workmanship, and a commitment to safety and quality are essential.
Pay:
$40.00 - $50.00 per hour
