Tooling Technician
Job Description
Job Summary Paragon Plastics is seeking a skilled and dependable Tooling Technician to join our team. The Tooling Technician is responsible for building, maintaining, repairing, and modifying vacuum forming molds, fixtures, pre-draw boxes, and plug assists used in heavy-gauge thermoplastic applications. Responsibilities Build and maintain vacuum forming molds, fixtures, pre-draw boxes, and plug assists Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD designs Fabricate tooling components using aluminum, wood, fiberglass, and composite materials Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, saws, sanders, grinders, and drill presses Inspect tooling for wear, surface defects, structural damage, and dimensional inconsistencies Perform tooling repairs, resurfacing, reinforcement, and modifications Make accurate tooling adjustments to correct dimensional issues and improve part quality Assist with the design and development of plug assists and pre-draw systems to optimize material distribution Ensure proper vacuum flow, sealing surfaces, and cooling performance Maintain organized tooling inventory and documentation for builds, repairs, and revisions Follow work instructions and maintain a strong focus on safety and quality Inspect machines, equipment, and work areas to ensure compliance with safety and quality requirements Requirements Experience in tooling, mold making, fabrication, machining, or a related manufacturing field preferred Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical drawings, and measurements Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail Experience using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment Experience working with aluminum, wood, fiberglass, or composite materials Ability to troubleshoot problems and make accurate adjustments Ability to work independently while also working effectively with the production and engineering teams Commitment to producing quality work in a safe and organized environment Join our team as a Tooling Technician if you are passionate about precision manufacturing and eager to contribute your technical expertise to innovative production processes!
