Types of dies include progressive, blanking, 2 station hand transfer, compound forming and, draw dies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates all tool room equipment, including drills, mills, lathes, grinders, jig bore, etc. Maintains knowledge of heat treating tool steels such as D2, A2, 01, etc. Performs analysis to diagnose problems with tooling and then takes appropriate steps to correct. Maintains necessary working knowledge necessary to build, repair, and maintain various dies and fixtures. Makes spare or replacement parts for all dies. Reads and understands blueprints. Sharpens all types of dies and keeps the tool timed out. Be able to changeover dies for similar parts and to keep changeover parts maintained. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School graduate or equivalent, further vocational/technical training in tool and die, or machining desirable. Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in tool and die trade. Must be highly motivated, a self-starter, and very detail-oriented. Good communications skills required. Previous CNC and wire EDM experience, are a plus.
