The Customer Tool & Die (CT&D) position is responsible for building, inventory, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting of crimping tools, dies, gauges, wrenches, and other specialized tooling used in manufacturing. This position works closely with customers, engineering, production, quality, and the tool room to ensure tooling meets customer specifications, production requirements, and quality standards.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Build, assemble, modify, maintain, and repair dies, crimping tools, wrenches, and other tooling. Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, and specifications. Troubleshoot tooling issues and identify root causes of dimensional, quality, or production issues. Inspect tooling and components using measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, indicators, and other inspection tools. Maintain accurate records of tooling repairs, modifications, maintenance, and improvements. Communicate tooling status, issues, and recommended solutions internally and to customers. Travel to customer facilities to diagnose quality issues, perform die inventory, troubleshoot equipment issues, and repair dies/tooling. Follow established safety procedures, quality standards, work instructions, and company policies. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment. Perform other duties as assigned.Key Working Relationships:
Customers- must be able to clearly communicate regarding our crimping tools, stamping dies, and wrenches while supporting their technical needs. Engineering/Tool Room
- collaborate on tooling design, development, revisions, problem solving, and manufacturability. Quality
- partner on dimensional requirements, inspection results, corrective actions and quality. Purchasing
- assist with sourcing tooling components and materials when necessary. Production
- support tooling setup, troubleshooting and repairs as required.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Able to use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring equipment, and machining equipment. Must be able to lift 75+ lbs. Able to safely follow all applicable safety procedures and equipment requirements; both internally and onsite at customers. Wear appropriate PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, protective footwear). This role is required to be on-site 5 days at the Auburn, IN location.
