Full time Position Summary Overton Industries is looking for a motivated Machining Intern to join its team and develop foundational machining skills through a structured training program. This role combines classroom learning with hands-on shop experience under the guidance of an experienced toolmaker, preparing individuals for a career in precision manufacturing and toolmaking. Key Responsibilities Learns industrial mathematics, blueprint reading, and machining theory. Studies materials, machining principles, speeds, feeds, and shop safety fundamentals. Works under the direct supervision of an experienced tool maker to develop skills according to Overton's structured apprenticeship program. Gains practical experience in basic shop operations including sawing, drilling, filing, and material preparation. Learns safe operation and setup of key equipment, including: lathes, milling, surface grinders, jig grinders, and EDM machines. Qualifications •Education :
Currently enrolled in High school or pursing further education in the machining industry. •Experience :
1-3+ years of experience in a related manufacturing or engineering industry. •Skills :
o Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in hands-on technical work o Ability to read and interpret basic measurements (rulers, calipers, micrometers) o Participation in vocational programs, trade classes, or STEM courses is beneficial.
