Job Description

Moldmaker / Toolmaker / Precision Machinist Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Moldmaker / Toolmaker / Precision Machinist to join our growing manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building, assembling, repairing, and maintaining plastic injection molds and precision tooling. This position requires strong manual and CNC machining skills, the ability to work to tight tolerances, and a commitment to producing high-quality tooling in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience in moldmaking, toolmaking, or precision machining . Experience building, assembling, repairing, and maintaining plastic injection molds . Experience with insert molds, prototype tooling, and precision tooling . Previous experience working in a tool room or mold manufacturing environment . Strong knowledge of tool steels, hardened steels, stainless steel, and alloy materials . Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, GD&T, and engineering specifications . Excellent understanding of shop math and precision machining practices. Technical Skills Manual Milling Machines CNC Milling Machines Manual & CNC Lathes Surface Grinding Wire EDM and/or Sinker EDM Precision Machining Mold Assembly & Fitting Mold Polishing Mold Repair & Maintenance Mold Troubleshooting Tool Steel Machining Inspection & Quality Perform precision measurements using: Micrometers Calipers Height Gauges Dial Indicators Bore Gauges Other precision measuring instruments Verify parts meet engineering drawings and tight tolerance requirements. Maintain the highest standards of workmanship and quality. Key Responsibilities Build, assemble, repair, and maintain plastic injection molds and tooling. Set up and operate manual and CNC milling machines, lathes, grinders, and EDM equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and work instructions. Troubleshoot mold and tooling issues and recommend corrective actions. Perform mold fitting, polishing, and preventative maintenance. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve tooling performance and manufacturability. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Support production schedules while ensuring quality and precision. Preferred Experience Experience with tooling for: Plastic Injection Molding Medical Device Manufacturing Automotive Components Precision Tooling Custom Mold Manufacturing Insert Molds Prototype Tooling Ideal Candidate Detail-oriented with excellent craftsmanship. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Dependable, self-motivated, and committed to producing high-quality work. Comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
