This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.
The Role:
GM Fairfax Stamping in Kansas City, KS is pursuing a Tool and Die Group Leader. We are seeking individuals with technical knowledge that can plan, assist, and lead a team of diemakers at our site with tasks ranging from new die tryout, die maintenance, and continuous improvement, as well as engineering changes during the life of a vehicle program. Die design review support may be required during a new vehicle launch process. Safety is most important to us followed by people & quality at our facility. Leading safety, people and quality of work is of high priority in the daily activity.
What You'll Do:
  • Lead a group of UAW tool & die makers in their daily activities
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed and continually improved
  • Provide guidance on tryout, production operation, and maintenance of dies
  • Lead quality improvement activities to provide high quality parts to the customer
  • Support business plan deployment objectives
  • Implement best practices, lessons learned, and support manufacturing innovations
  • Travel to die construction sites for buyoffs and tryout as necessary Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Tool & Die
  • Ability to work full time, 40 hours per week & willing to work overtime including weekends as necessary
  • Willingness to be shift flexible
  • Ability to travel during die construction and tryout phase of product launches What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
  • 3-5+ years of Tool & Die experience
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed
  • 3D Machining and wire EDM GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
