Job Description
Job Summary:
Lead the Shift 3rd shift Tool Shop Team's assignments and schedules & Perform Toolmaker duties.Essential Functions:
- All Shop Work Scheduling for shift using systems provided
- Assignments of work orders to all shop associates
- Communication to Production Control about Work Order timing
- Work Order List Management (Adjustments, posting, etc.)
- Acquisition of Molds as needed to start work
- Technical Support to all shop associates as needed
- Full understanding of Injection Mold Tooling (Operation, Handling, Etc.)
- Repair or replace broken or damaged components of injection molds with use of hand tools, power tools and shop equipment according to tight specification.
- Ability to study specifications, such as 2D prints, sketches, existing part, damaged parts or description of parts to be replaced.
- Measures using all methods available, marks and writes dimensions and reference points by use of such hand tools as calipers, micrometers, indicators, and comparators
- Root Cause / Countermeasure approach to repairs (Kaizen Improvement)
- Preventative maintenance on existing molds (Overhaul)
- New mold inspection; disassemble to verify dimensions and alignment according to specifications then reassemble.
- Design and fabricate tooling components, fixtures, jigs, gauges.
- Other tasks as assigned
Non-Essential Functions:
- Work flexible hours and overtime as needed
- Available to work "on call" day or night in case of production emergencies
- Behave in a positive manner that enhances the success of the company
Education:
- Must possess a
High School Diploma or GED Experience/Skills:
- Eight years of experience in mold making or have completed an approved journeyman program, and one year of shop work scheduling experience
- Proven mechanical aptitude with a general understanding of dimensional mathematics
- Skill in fine bench work detailing requiring finesse and accuracy
- Must be proficient at reading and interpreting blueprints
- Proficient in the use of CNC mills and lathes; E.D.M.; TIG welding; grinders
- Excellent verbal, written, analytical, and communication skills including decision making
- Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks effectively
- Must be cooperative and work well in team environment
