Die Setter - Auburn Hills (2nd Shift)

Job Description

Summary Sets up and operates heavy duty power press to blank, form, or pierce metal parts, using dies and feeder equipment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities The essential functions will include, but not be limited to: Safety Sets up press feeding, lube and safety equipment, such as pullbacks and light curtains Sets up palm stands and control buttons and verifies the safety distance (distance from operator station to the pinch point) Cleans and removes clamps, bolts, and debris from press die area to be ready for the next die setup Must be a proficient forklift operator Quality & Cleanliness Inspects parts after each stroke for insure accuracy and uniformity Brings part to quality control for first piece approval Sets up counters and appropriate containers Production Efficiency Include the following. Other duties may be assigned Must set up progressive and line dies Measures and adjusts ram of press to accommodate dies in the press Aligns dies and sets up air cushions in the press. Bolts dies to press ram and press bed Positions work piece or metal strip into die and activates machine to blank, form, or pierce part Repositions parts in multi stage dies for additional operation Sets up chutes for parts and scrap removal Removes dies from presses and applies appropriate die tags for repair by tool room Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed above. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • 18 years of age or older with the ability to work extended hours
  • Must be able to prove United States work eligibility
  • Demonstrates the skills required or aptitude and motivation to master the required skills, essential duties, and responsibilities with reasonable supervision and training
  • Preferred Education and/or Experience, but not required: Minimum of 2 years of die setting and/or similar experience required
  • Must have basic knowledge of metrology
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
If required by job, must demonstrate the ability to write simple correspondence, effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the company
