In this role, you will operate surface grinding machines to produce precise, high-quality metal components according to technical specifications. Your expertise in grinding techniques, measurement tools, and machine setup will ensure our products meet rigorous quality standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to precision manufacturing processes in a dynamic environment that values craftsmanship and innovation. Duties Set up and operate surface grinding machines, ensuring proper alignment and calibration for each job Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements Utilize precision measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators to verify dimensions and tolerances Program and adjust grinding machines using CNC G-code programming, M-code commands, or manual controls as needed Perform routine machine maintenance, tool changes, and troubleshooting to maintain optimal performance Conduct quality inspections on finished parts using measurement tools and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards Collaborate with team members on machine setup, process improvements, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols Experience Proven experience operating surface grinders in a manufacturing or metalworking environment Ability to perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other measuring instruments for quality control Mechanical aptitude with understanding of machining tools, power tools, hand tools, and assembly procedures Knowledge of machining operations on CNC lathe and milling machines is a plus Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machine settings Understanding of GD&T principles for precise measurement interpretation in manufacturing processes Maya Gage is a precision manufacturing plant that specializes in gages, fixtures & tooling. We make gages, among other things, and gages are the tools manufacturers use to measure their quality. We are at the upper echelon of manufacturing and we only want the best. We hold tolerances at .0001" or 2.5 microns.
