The Composites Technician assists in the fabrication and assembly of all plastic properties designed and/or built at Prefix Corporation.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in the preparation of models to be cast in material determined by the customer or Prefix; this includes splitting the model and prepping the model for the predetermined molding material. Assists in the fabrication of fiberglass parts out of epoxy or polyester based laminates. Assist in the formation of a variety of plastic sheeting using high heat and vacuum to form a specified plastic around a supplied or an in-house fabricated tool. Assist in the formation of acrylics into specified shapes and sizes that are later fit onto a vehicle by a qualified installer. Glue up or assist in the gluing up of boards that are used to mill models or tooling for prototype parts and molds. Basic knowledge of plastic model making with 0 to 3 years' experience. Ability to follow direction and work within predetermined timelines established within the job quote. High School or GED equivalent required. A certificate from an accredited technical or an industrial trade school is preferred. Needs to be a self-starter with proficiency in budgeting time. Incumbent must possess basic hand tools for the position and upgrade such tools as required to complete the tasks assigned.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
