Die Repair II Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Metal Stamping Die Repair Technician to join our team on the 2nd and 3rd shifts. The ideal candidate will specialize in tool and die repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting for transfer presses and progressive presses used in high-volume stamping operations. Proficiency in MIG/TIG welding, blueprint reading, and metal fabrication is essential. The role involves working independently to repair and optimize dies, fixtures, and tooling to ensure efficient production. Candidates must be able to interpret blueprints, operate machine tools, and perform precise measurements. Availability for 3rd shifts is required.

Responsibilities:

Perform repairs and troubleshooting on stamping dies, transfer presses, and progressive presses to maintain optimal performance. Use MIG/TIG welding techniques on various steels such as A-2, D-2, S-7, 4140, and O-1. Read blueprints, sketches, and specifications to plan fabrication and repair processes. Operate machine tools including mills, lathes, saws, grinders, and drills. Measure parts accurately with calipers and micrometers; mark and scribe metal stock for machining. Follow safety protocols including Lockout/Tag-Out procedures. Maintain detailed records of repairs and modifications. Order parts and update systems regarding tooling status. Work independently to complete repairs efficiently while maintaining quality standards. Support continuous improvement initiatives in die maintenance. Maintain a clean work environment following safety standards. Lift heavy materials safely using cranes or lifting equipment.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED preferred; vocational training or certification in tool and die repair is a plus. Minimum of 8 years of experience in die repair or toolmaking within high-volume stamping environments. Strong skills in blueprint reading, metal fabrication, and machining. Proficient in MIG/TIG welding on various steels used in die construction. Excellent measurement skills with calipers and micrometers. Ability to work independently on complex repairs with minimal supervision. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted; stand for extended periods; reach and bend comfortably. Basic computer skills; familiarity with MRP systems such as Plex preferred. Own personal tools required for the job. Pay:

$28.00 - $36.00 per hour
