As an Orthotic Manufacturing Technician , you will learn how to make these devices from the ground up. Our products are made from materials such as plastic, foam, metal, and composite materials and are built to fit the individual needs of each patient. You do not need previous experience in orthotics. We will train you. If you enjoy working with your hands, building things, using tools, and learning how things work, this may be a great opportunity to develop a skilled trade while doing work that has a direct impact on people's lives. What Does an Orthotic Technician Do? Orthotic technicians manufacture braces and support devices that are prescribed for patients. These devices can help support a person's legs, feet, or other parts of the body.
Your work may include:
Grinding, shaping, and polishing plastic parts Heating and forming plastic to create custom shapes Cutting and working with different materials Assembling mechanical components, straps, and other parts Using hand tools and power tools Following drawings, measurements, and manufacturing instructions Learning how to produce medical devices to specific quality standards Inspecting your work to make sure the finished device meets our requirements Some of the devices we make are custom-made for one specific patient , so the work is more hands-on and detail-oriented than typical factory assembly. Who We're Looking For We are looking for people who: Like to build, make, or repair things Enjoy working with their hands Have good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail Are comfortable learning to use tools and equipment Take pride in doing quality work Can follow instructions and learn new processes Want to develop a skilled manufacturing career Like the idea of knowing that their work directly helps another person Previous experience in manufacturing, woodworking, automotive work, fabrication, machining, construction, or other hands-on trades is helpful, but not required .
