Tool Crib Attendant Job Description The Tool Crib Attendant works in a gated area within a modern machine shop and oversees all inventory that supports CNC machining operations. This role ensures machinists receive the exact tooling and gaging they request, manages inventory accuracy through CribMaster, and coordinates with internal teams and external partners to maintain precise calibrations and tight tolerances. The position combines hands-on tooling and gage support with customer service, organization, and strong computer-based inventory management. Responsibilities Oversee daily operations of the tool crib and run it like a professional, high-end retail operation for the machining team. Serve as the primary point of contact at the tool crib window, ensuring machinists receive the exact tools and gages they request to complete their jobs successfully. Build, verify, and issue job kits, confirming that every tool and gage is prepared to specification and ready for CNC production. Use CribMaster to track, manage, and reconcile tooling and gaging inventory with high accuracy, acting as the gatekeeper for critical hardware. Monitor and control inventory levels, including performing cycle counts and maintaining proper stock levels to prevent shortages or delays. Coordinate with internal and external partners to manage gage calibration, ensuring all measuring equipment meets required tolerances and quality standards. Maintain up-to-date records and documentation for calibrations, inventory transactions, and tool usage using computer-based systems and reports. Support the machine shop by overseeing fluid and coolant management to help keep CNC machines running at peak performance. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming tool crib environment that reflects a professional storefront for machinists and visitors. Provide helpful, approachable customer service to machinists and other shop personnel, building strong working relationships and supporting team success. Handle material handling tasks related to tooling and gaging, ensuring safe and efficient movement and storage of items. Identify and escalate inventory, quality, or tooling issues promptly to help prevent production interruptions and maintain high standards. Follow established procedures and contribute to continuous improvement of tool crib processes, organization, and workflow. Essential Skills 1-3 years of experience in a CNC environment with a solid understanding of machining operations. Hands-on familiarity with tooling and precision gaging, including an understanding of quality edges and proper tool condition. Experience with inventory control and inventory management in a manufacturing or machine shop environment. Ability to use inventory management software such as CribMaster or similar systems to track assets and maintain accurate records. Strong systematic thinking and organizational skills, with a preference for working with clear procedures and structured workflows. Effective customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and helpfully with machinists and other shop personnel. Basic to intermediate computer skills for data entry, reporting, and inventory tracking. Ability to perform cycle counts and reconcile physical inventory with system records. Comfort working in a machine shop environment and understanding of general machining terminology and processes. Additional Skills & Qualifications Aerospace machining or aerospace manufacturing experience is a strong plus. Experience working in a tool crib or similar gated inventory environment is beneficial. material handling experience related to tooling, gaging, or machine shop supplies. Experience generating or interpreting inventory and usage reports. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling precision tools and gages. Ability to manage multiple requests and priorities while maintaining a calm, service-oriented approach. Interest in continuous improvement and refining procedures for better organization and efficiency. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Minneapolis, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $41600.00

• $47840.00/yr.
