This position reports to:
Engineering Manager __ The work model for the role is: Onsite #LI-Onsite Your role and responsibilities: The Tool Room Manager will lead the design, engineering, and fabrication operations of a specialized tool room supporting ABB's St. Louis stamping plants for the motor lamination and parts departments. In this role, you will oversee the creation and maintenance of carbide progressive stamping lamination dies, as well as associated metal components used in the manufacture of electrical motors. You will manage a team of tool and die makers and 1 tool and die designer, direct all tool room operations, troubleshoot complex stamping die processes, manage capital investments, and ensure adherence to standardized work procedures and quality standards. Qualifications for the role:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related discipline with 8+ years of tool and die manufacturing experience including 5+ years of supervisory or leadership experience. Proven leadership experience managing tool and die operations and leading teams in high-volume manufacturing environments. Extensive expertise in stamping and tooling processes, including progressive die design, carbide tool fabrication, troubleshooting, maintenance, and tool life optimization. Strong technical knowledge of CNC machining, wire EDM, manual machining equipment, precision measurement, quality control systems, and engineering drawing interpretation. Experience with maintenance planning, equipment lifecycle management, project execution, and capital budgeting in a manufacturing environment. Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a strong commitment to safety, continuous improvement, operational excellence, and managing multiple priorities. Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.More about us:
