Wilmington, NC Pay:
$29.29-$38.34/hr (Median $35.39)
Employment Type:
Temporary /
Temp-to-Hire Shift:
1st Shift (Monday-Friday) - Other shifts may be required as needed
Overview:
Our staffing company is currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing company in Wilmington for a Tool & Die Machinist . This role involves analyzing specifications, setting up and operating machine tools, and fitting and assembling parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinist's hand tools. The machinist will also assist with process troubleshooting and repair.
Key Responsibilities:
Study blueprints or specifications and visualize the shape of dies, parts, or tools Compute dimensions and plan sequence of operations Measure, mark, and scribe metal or plastic stock using precision instruments Set up and operate machine tools such as band saws, lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and grinders Lift, position, and secure machined parts using hoists, vises, v-blocks, or angle plates Smooth and polish surfaces of parts or tools using scrapers, files, or power grinders Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances using calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators Fit and assemble parts with bolts, glue, or other fasteners, using hand tools Inspect parts for hardness and repair or modify tools and dies as needed Design tools, jigs, fixtures, and templates to support production Test dies for first hit quality and inspect for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects
Qualifications:
Tool & Die associate's degree or equivalent experience Must be available to work 1st shift; other shifts may occasionally be required Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail Experience with machine tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments
