Job Description

Scott Safety is seeking a Tool & Die Maker for our Monroe, NC location. This position is on 1st shift.
Responsibilities :
The Tool & Die Maker must be able to work with others to troubleshoot production concerns and be skilled in building & repairing tooling fixtures & dies. Provides timely, clear, detailed communication to production and maintenance department supervision regarding the status of any production or facility support equipment issues. Works as a member of an across shift team to execute projects throughout the facility
Primary Responsibilities:
Efficiently pick customer orders for shipment Build and repair tooling fixtures and dies following established methods and procedures. Work closely with manufacturing to ensure that fixtures and dies perform in a manner that meets manufacturing requirements. Work from blueprints, sketches, and verbal descriptions. Build, sharpen, repair, and modify fixtures that are currently in use in the manufacturing areas. Work independently having minimum supervision using CNC milling machines, lathes, grinders, drill presses and other related machining equipment producing tight tolerance parts Heat treat parts that may require hardening and assemble these parts into required tooling. Set up and approve tooling operation Follow safety policies and procedures and operate equipment in a manner that meets these requirements (see below) Maintain & support 7S initiatives & practices Knowledge in the use of Gibbs CAM or some other type of CNC PC based software system for programming CNC equipment is a plus. Work with engineering and production personnel to support facility initiatives targeted at improving safety, cost, quality, and delivery. Initiatives will involve activities such as installation of new equipment and systems, improving or modifying existing equipment, developing detailed PM instructions, identifying needed spare parts and stocking levels, assisting with maintaining facility equipment documentation, and etc Performs additional duties and functions as directed by the
Supervisor Basic Required Qualifications:
Tool Journeyman certification or Associates Degree in Machine Tool Technology, 3+ years' experience as a Tool & Die Maker Experience using various hand powered tools, precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, etc.
