Job Description

Job Description Insight Global is seeking an experienced Tool Maker to support a manufacturing and fabrication environment in Rochester, NY. This individual will work closely with engineering and production teams to fabricate, modify, and maintain tooling, fixtures, and precision components used in manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong machining background, experience working to tight tolerances, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who can operate independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment to support production objectives and continuous improvement initiatives. The day to day will consist of The position requires hands-on operation of manual machining equipment, including mills, lathes, and surface grinders, while consistently working within tight tolerances and established quality standards. The Tool Maker will collaborate closely with engineers and manufacturing personnel to support tooling design initiatives and identify opportunities to improve manufacturability and production efficiency. This is a first shift position 6am-3:30pm Monday to Friday on a 9/80 work schedule. Skills and Requirements High School Diploma or GED. 4+ years of experience in tool making, machining, mechanical fabrication, or a related manufacturing discipline. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation. Experience operating manual machining equipment including mills, lathes, and surface grinders. Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Basic computer skills and experience maintaining production documentation. Associate degree or technical certification in Machining, Tool Making, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field. Skilled Journeyman Certification. Experience with CNC programming and machining operations. Experience with G-Code and G-Code Macro programming. Experience using Mastercam programming software. Experience with Prototrak programming and machine operation. Experience working with composite materials. Experience with mechanical fabrication and custom tooling. MIG and TIG welding experience. Sheet metal fabrication experience. Experience working in prototype or low-volume manufacturing environments.
