Reporting to the tooling manager, the toolmaker will assist in every facet of new injection mold builds, existing injection mold repair, and mold maintenance. The toolmaker would be the key person involved in the operation of all machinery used in the repair or fabrication of new or existing tooling. Fundamentally, the toolmaker should be able to machine precision components and parts of injection molds and understand their function. Furthermore, the toolmaker should be able to, independently, take a defective plastic part, determine the failure mode of the mold, and be able to determine the best way to repair or redesign the tooling so that the problem is rectified for future production runs.
