Job Description

Position Description:
?Purpose The Engineering Technician provides comprehensive technical support and fabrication expertise for engineers and customers across research, design, development, testing, equipment maintenance, and manufacturing process improvement. Work encompasses both electrical/electronic and mechanical components, including equipment design, tool and die fabrication, preparing drawing sketches, and diagnostic repair. Essential Functions
  • Provide fabrication support to project teams and engineers in equipment design and fabrication
  • Set up, operate manual vertical milling machines, Lathes, and maintain tools, and other related fabrication equipment.
  • Construct, fabricate, and test fixtures, tools, and mechanical components

  • Assist in the development of quotes, timing, and project plans
  • Communicate directly with customers and vendors to clarify needs, expectations, and requirements
  • Plan and perform machining operations, utilizing precision measuring instruments, drawings, blueprints, and layouts
  • Have a working knowledge of CNC programming, setup, and operation, including writing, editing, and optimizing G-code and M-code programs to manufacture high-precision components and custom fixtures from technical drawings or 3D models.
  • Organize, review, and accurately document activities
  • Assemble, construct, or install equipment requiring welding, connecting, or special fixtures
  • Maintain equipment, room cleanliness, and housekeeping standards
  • Follow safety procedures and wear protective equipment including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes
  • Support TRC Inc.'s Quality and EH&S (Environmental, Health, and Safety) efforts Qualifications
  • High school diploma required
  • 4 years of related experience in machine shop/tool room environments
  • Extensive knowledge of machine shop practices, tool room practices, and advanced technical skills
  • Proficient in the use of tools, machinery, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to read drawings, blueprints, and layouts to achieve required dimensions to very close tolerances
  • Valid state DMV issued, or valid foreign country issued driver's license
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills
  • Basic computer skills Working conditions
  • Standard office, climate controlled environment
  • Standard laboratory environment
  • May be exposed to temperatures below 0 degree and above 95 degrees
  • May be exposed to inclement weather
  • May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, such as gas, oil, and paint Physical requirements
  • Ability to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Ability to communicate with customers and co-workers
  • Capable of positioning one's self into bending, stretching, climbing, or awkward positions
