Job Description

Job Overview Immediate opportunity for a Die Bench machinist in our toolroom. Position involves the assembly, hand-finishing, repair, troubleshooting and adjustment of progressive stamping dies and tooling. Work at a workbench using hand tools, grinders, and layout instruments to ensure die components meet exact specifications, supporting our production presses.
Education/Experience:
Prior experience in a machinist position and maintenance of progressive stamping dies.
Responsibilities Assembly & Fitting:
Assemble new progressive dies, fitting punches, strippers, and pilots, often working with tight tolerances.
Bench Work:
Perform precise handwork, including filing, stoning, grinding, and polishing tool steel components to ensure proper operation.
Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and repair malfunctioning dies, adjusting for feeding issues, material distortion, or misalignment.
Die Maintenance:
Sharpen cutting edges and replace worn parts to maintain tool life.
Tool Calibration:
Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and surface plates to verify die component dimensions. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Ability to follow departmental procedures Knowledge of milling and grinding Strong math ability and knowledge of measuring devices Knowledge of safety equipment and procedures Ability to operate milling machines, grinders, and saws Mechanical ability and blueprint reading Organizational skills and strong interaction skills
Pay:
$18.00 - $32.00 per hour
