Responsible for building, machining, fitting, and assembling tooling and die components according to blueprints and specifications. Operates toolroom machinery including lathes, mills, and grinders; calculates dimensions, verifies measurements and clearances, and ensures finished tooling meets quality standards. Requires a high school diploma/GED, with tooling experience and Journeyman Toolmaker certification preferred.
Responsibilities:
Assists in build of tools using blueprints, specifications, descriptions, and support from engineering department and Tooling Manager. Operates machinery requires to build necessary tooling. Knowledgeable in operation of most toolroom machinery. Computes dimension, plans layout, and determines tool build method and sequence of operations. Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances, using measuring instruments. Measures and marks stock for machining. Operates various machines such as lathe, mills, and grinder to machine parts to specifications. Fits and assembles components for mechanical action within die.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Journeyman Toolmaker certification preferred. Automotive tooling experience preferred. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications. Proficient in operating toolroom machinery, including lathes, mills, and grinders. Strong ability to measure, calculate dimensions, and verify tooling specifications. Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a manufacturing environment with prolonged standing and frequent bending. #HSM125
