Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Die and Tool Maker to join our manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for designing, fabricating, repairing, and maintaining precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures used in various manufacturing processes. Your expertise will ensure the production of high-quality components with precision and efficiency. Duties Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings using CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD to develop detailed tooling designs. Set up, operate, and maintain CNC machining centers including CNC lathes, milling machines, grinders, and electrical discharge machining (EDM) equipment to produce precise tooling components. Program CNC machines utilizing CAM programming techniques to optimize machining operations for complex die and tool fabrication. Perform manual machining processes such as turning, milling, grinding, welding, and fabrication to create or repair tools with high accuracy. Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, micrometers, and other measurement instruments to ensure adherence to strict quality standards. Interpret mechanical blueprints and schematics accurately for metal machining, stamping press tooling, and plastics injection molding dies. Maintain detailed records of tooling fabrication processes, inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities in accordance with shop procedures. Collaborate with engineering teams on tool design improvements and troubleshoot issues related to manufacturing tooling or die performance. Experience Proven experience in a toolroom or manufacturing environment specializing in die making or tooling fabrication. Extensive knowledge of CNC programming (G-code), CAM software, and manual machining techniques. Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles for precise measurement and quality control. Hands-on experience with plastics injection molding tooling and stamping press dies is highly desirable. Proficiency in interpreting mechanical blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams related to tooling systems. Familiarity with shop math including measurements conversion, tolerances, and geometric calculations necessary for tool fabrication. Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges for quality assurance. Knowledge of welding techniques relevant to tool repair or fabrication is a plus. Experience with maintenance, repair & operations (MRO) practices for manufacturing equipment is advantageous.
