Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tool Maker to join our manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for designing, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and molds used in various manufacturing processes. Your expertise will directly contribute to the efficiency and quality of our production operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply advanced machining techniques and mechanical knowledge in a dynamic environment committed to excellence and innovation. Duties Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to produce precise tooling components. Operate CNC machining centers, including CNC lathe and CNC milling machines, to manufacture complex tools and parts with high accuracy. Set up and calibrate machining tools, including grinders, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement instruments. Fabricate tooling using manual machining techniques such as milling, turning, grinding, welding, and electrical discharge machining (EDM). Program CNC machines utilizing CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and CAD (Computer-Aided Design) tools like SolidWorks or AutoCAD for tool design. Conduct routine maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of tooling equipment to ensure optimal performance. Inspect finished tools for quality using precision measurement instruments; ensure adherence to GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards. Assemble tooling components accurately according to specifications; perform shop math calculations for precise fabrication. Maintain detailed documentation of tool fabrication processes, modifications, and repairs in accordance with manufacturing standards. Experience Proven experience in a toolroom or manufacturing environment with a focus on tool & die making or metal machining. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and schematics accurately. Hands-on experience with CNC programming for lathe and milling machines; familiarity with CAM software is essential. Proficiency in manual machining techniques including milling machines, grinders, lathes, welding equipment, and fabrication tools. Knowledge of plastics injection molding tooling processes is a plus. Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges for quality control. Experience working with electrical discharge machining (EDM), stamping presses, and other fabrication equipment preferred. Ability to read schematics related to electrical systems and mechanical components; understanding shop math is essential for accurate measurements and calculations. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot machinery issues efficiently while maintaining safety standards; experience with maintenance repair operations (MRO) is advantageous.
