The role will primarily involve welding, Babbitt casting, component preparation, repair and finishing. Previous Babbitt bearing experience is highly desirable, although candidates with strong welding, casting or foundry experience and good mechanical ability may be trained in our specific babbitt processes. Responsibilities Perform welding and fabrication work associated with bearing manufacture and repair. Support and perform Babbitt preparation, tinning, casting/pouring and finishing processes as trained and competent. Prepare components for repair and manufacture, including cleaning, grinding, deburring, blasting and other preparation activities. Carry out fitting and finishing activities including polishing, lapping, tapping, reaming and component assembly where required. Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, measuring equipment and other workshop equipment safely and correctly. Read and follow drawings, dimensions, work instructions and job requirements. Visually inspect work during production and identify or report defects or concerns. Work safely and follow company quality, safety and production procedures. Cross-train and support other workshop activities where required. Essential Skills & Experience Practical welding and/or metal fabrication experience. Experience working in a manufacturing, repair, foundry or similar industrial environment. Good mechanical aptitude and practical workshop skills. Experience using common hand tools, power tools, grinders and measuring equipment. Ability to follow drawings, measurements, work instructions and dimensional requirements. Willingness and ability to learn and work with Babbitt bearing processes. Safety-conscious, dependable and able to work effectively as part of a production team. Preferred Skills & Experience Previous Babbitt bearing manufacture or repair experience. Experience with Babbitt casting, pouring or tinning. Foundry or other metal casting experience. TIG welding experience. Bearing fitting, preparation and finishing experience. Manual machining experience using lathes, mills, boring machines or similar equipment. Machining experience is an advantage but is not required for the position.
Pay:
