Automotive Manufacturing Experience Required:
Job Summary :
Responsible for performing preventive maintenance and repairs on injection molds using various hand and manual milling equipment and techniques. Ensuring adherence to specification and quality standards for work performed. Coordinate with other departments to troubleshoot issues, identify solutions and implement necessary repairs to minimize downtime. Expected to maintain a safe working environment and follow all procedures and safety protocols. All work must be properly documented in maintenance / asset database. Main Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)- Perform set-up and operation of various machine tools in order to accomplish production machinery functions.
- Use milling, drilling, grinding, and other machines.
- Ability to decipher sketches, blueprints, and engineering details.
- Provide assistance in establishing set up and layout methods, order of operations, and application of required parts and materials.
- Run electronic equipment and systems to perform work.
- Plan and fabricate various tools, dies, gauges, jigs, and fixtures to within precise specifications.
- Modify or repair existing tools and dies.
- Perform tool making procedures requiring fitting and assembling parts and making adjustments to meet requirements.
- Perform welding of metal objects using a variety of welding equipment including oxygen and acetylene, MIG and TIG welders.
- Plan and produce metal forms or objects or reconstruct damaged equipment of various metals and alloys including aluminum.
- Ability to fuse different metals and withstands with great strength demands while avoiding distortion.
- Regulate equipment as necessary for the work performed.
- Advise supervisor of those situations that may pose a significant risk to the company, product assurance, facilities, and employee safety or customer satisfaction results.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or
GED Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience with manufacturing, automotive industry preferred
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in Industrial machinery
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
N/A Computer Skills:
- Basic excel and word programs.
Mathematical Abilities:
- Intermediate-advanced math skills.
Analytical or Reasoning Abilities:
- Strong analytical, planning skills and critical thinking ability required with orientation for continuous improvement.
- Ability to effectively prepare business and technical documentation such as procedures, reports, presentations, etc.
- Ability to understand and follow written technical procedures/instructions
Communication Skills:
(Writing, Foreign Language, Reasoning)- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Highly effective, articulate communication skills (verbal & written) with strong interpersonal effectiveness and the ability to work with all levels in the organization and across cultures
- Bilingual English-Spanish preferred Other Skills (Technical, or Other special knowledge and abilities)
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively manage a variety of projects and tasks.
- Takes initiative, approaches others in a positive and constructive manner, and works well independently to achieve results
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and rotate across multiple operations.
- Measurements, knowledge of precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers and dial indicators.
- Precision and attention to detail to produce accurate high quality machine components.
Lathe :
Understand technical aspects of operating a lathe. This includes knowledge of proper machine set up, tool selection, speed and feed controls. Ability to cut external and internal threads.Milling Machine :
knowledge of spindle speeds, end mills, face mills, drills, table controls. Must understand how to center work on the table using vises, clamps or fixtures. Must be able to perform facing, contouring, slotting and thread milling.Surface Grinder :
Understanding the operation of the grinding wheels, work surface and holding devices such as magnetic checks and vises. You must know how to properly select grinding wheels based on the type of material being worked on, size and grit of wheels and what type of finished surface you are needing to achieve. Must understand the impact of wheel speed, table feed rate and depth of cut.Tig Welding :
Need to have a solid background in TIG welding principles including metallurgy, heat control and various welding techniques. Must know how to properly weld steel and aluminum. Must know how to identify and address issues with arc instability, tungsten contamination, gas flow and insufficient penetration.Physical Requirements:
Be willing to meet the physical requirements below and work overtime as needed, sometimes with minimum notice (including some weekends and holidays) to cover responsibilities based on the needs of the organization- 90% of the time will be spent in the tooling shop and 10% of the time on the production floor completing work related to the position.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds individually and team lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures without endangering the health or safety of self or others. You must wear all personal protective equipment where required.
