We are currently seeking CNC Support Technician to join our Rhinelander, WI Team! In this role, The CNC Support Technician is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the CNC machine shop by managing tooling inventory, organizing materials, and operating support equipment. This position ensures machinists have the tooling, materials, and resources necessary to maintain efficient production while promoting a safe, organized, and productive work environment.

MAJOR DUTIES

Follow all company safety policies and maintain a safe work environment.

Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient tool crib and machine shop support area.

Inspect tooling for wear and arrange repair, replacement or sharpening as required.

Issue, order, receive, track tooling, consumables, and related equipment.

Maintain accurate records of tooling inventory, withdrawals, returns, repairs, sharpening, and stock levels.

Record invoices and assist with departmental budget tracking.

Coordinate with vendors regarding tooling purchases, repairs, sharpening services, and product availability.

Operate and maintain tooling setup equipment, including a Kelch pre-setter or similar equipment.

Assemble, preset, and stage tooling packages according to production schedules.

Disassemble tooling from completed jobs and return reusable components to inventory.

Operate machine support equipment, including engraver, tap burner, and drill press.

Operate shop support equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and other material handling equipment as assigned.

Stage materials for upcoming production jobs and transport work-in-process and finished parts as needed.

Assist with general machine shop organization, housekeeping, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Perform additional shop support duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Five (5) years of machining, tooling, manufacturing support, or related experience preferred.

Working knowledge of CNC machining, cutting tools, inserts, tool holders, and machining consumables.

Experience with tooling inventory management preferred.

Ability to read setup sheets, tooling documentation, manufacturing schedules, and work orders.

Experience operating a tool pre-setter (Kelch or equivalent) preferred.

Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machine shop equipment.

Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.

Effective communication skills and the ability to work with production personnel, vendors, and support departments.

Basic computer, inventory, and recordkeeping skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and handling of tooling and materials.
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, oil, metal chips, and moving equipment
