Job Description

Lead Environmental Laboratory Technician - Wastewater Liquid Env Solutions of Alabama seeks a Lead Laboratory Technician to oversee testing of non-hazardous liquid waste supporting safe collection, transportation, and recycling operations. In this role, you will manage daily lab activities, perform sampling and analysis of grease, used cooking oil, and wastewater, and ensure strict adherence to environmental and safety regulations. You will train and guide lab staff, maintain equipment and supplies, support audits, and collaborate with operations and transportation teams. This position offers growth in environmental services within a safety-focused, customer-oriented culture. Oversee daily lab operations supporting non-hazardous liquid waste analysis Conduct sampling, testing, and verification of grease, wastewater, and related materials Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment Review and validate test data; prepare clear, accurate reports for operations teams Train and mentor lab technicians on procedures, safety, and quality control Coordinate with transportation and operations teams to prioritize sample testing Maintain inventory of lab supplies and ensure proper chemical handling and storage Implement and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) for lab workflows Support audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives Environmental laboratory testing Water and wastewater analysis Sample collection and chain of custody Laboratory equipment calibration and maintenance Quality control and documentation OSHA and environmental regulations knowledge Data recording and reporting SOP development and adherence Root cause analysis and troubleshooting Inventory management Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k OSHA safety training or equivalent HAZWOPER or similar environmental safety training (preferred) Laboratory safety and chemical handling training Valid driver's license Certification in environmental science, water/wastewater, or lab technology (preferred)
