Oversee the operation and maintenance of public water treatment systems and their components, i.e., water treatment and storage facilities, and water service and distribution mains; The operation and maintenance of public wastewater treatment systems and their components, i.e., wastewater treatment facilities, sewer collection systems, lift stations, and stabilization ponds; The operation and maintenance of a solid waste collection and public works motorized vehicle and equipment, i.e., water truck, dump truck, and backhoe, typically of a public works department. Responsible for meter readings. Under the direction of the public works supervisor, provide a safe working condition and environment for the public works staff and community. Responsible for the training of public works staff, as needed. To provide safe drinking water and proper disposal of solid waste and treatment of public wastewater systems in the most economical form possible, and to safeguard the health of the general public. The supervisor will oversee the public works operator's daily routine, assign tasks, and monitor the treatment facilities to ensure all tests are completed and logged, and schedule water testing to ensure the public water and wastewater facilities comply with E.P.A. standards. Must be available to work after hours, nights, weekends, or holidays as needed. Must be able to be on call. Other duties may be assigned as required.
