About the Role We're hiring an experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to troubleshoot operational issues, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure the reliability and efficiency of utility distribution and treatment processes. This role operates equipment and process control systems while maintaining strict compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Pay:
$30.00- $32.00 per hour DOEWhat You'll DoTroubleshoot and resolve operational issues; implement corrective actions during assigned shiftsPerform preventive maintenance on plant systemsMonitor and operate equipment including gauges, meters, valves, pumps, and motors; adjust chemical dosages and flow ratesOperate and monitor PLCs and SCADA systems for process controlEnsure compliance with company and project policies and procedures; report deviationsMaintain accurate daily logs, rounds, lab records, and required reportsUtilize and update the CMMS to optimize maintenance activities and documentationCollect samples and conduct routine laboratory tests on influent, effluent, biosolids, and industrial dischargesManage biosolids processing, hauling, and application in accordance with schedules and regulationsParticipate in safety meetings, training sessions, and process control discussionsMake operational decisions in the absence of supervisory staffCommunicate operational needs and changes to supervisorsWhat You BringHigh school diploma or GEDValid state certification for Wastewater Treatment Grade 2 or higherValid state certification for Water Distribution Grade 2 or higherMinimum of three years' experience operating wastewater treatment facilitiesDemonstrated advanced operational skills and sound judgmentStrong verbal and written communication abilitiesAbility to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a teamValid driver's licensePreferred Qualifications3-5 years of experience in wastewater treatment operationsKnowledge of treatment plant principles, equipment (valves, pumps, motors), and laboratory testing methodsUnderstanding of industrial waste impacts on treatment processesFamiliarity with safety protocols and best practicesProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), CMMS, and data management systemsExperience operating PLCs and SCADA systemsWorking Conditions Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to environmental elements, loud noise, moving machinery, confined spaces, heights, and chemicals. PPE use is mandatory.
