Job Description

Position Overview HBNO is seeking a hands-on Quality Control Supervisor to lead daily quality control activities across retail/private-label filling, Made-to-Spec blending, B2B bulk operations, and sanitation verification. This is a floor-based leadership role , not a desk position. The Supervisor leads through existing QC sub-leads and technicians, ensuring inspections are performed correctly, nonconforming product is contained, quality standards are followed, and recurring issues are permanently corrected. The role also owns sanitation verification and improvement , bulk quality oversight, SOP implementation, NCR management, and QC team development. Key Responsibilities Lead daily QC execution across filling, blending, bulk pack-out, and outgoing inspection. Maintain a strong floor presence during start-up, production, changeovers, and close-out . Supervise through the Blends QC Leader, Manufacturing QC lead, technicians, and OQC staff. Ensure IPQC and OQC inspections follow current specifications, sampling plans, and SOPs. Exercise stop-the-line, hold, quarantine, and release authority when quality standards are not met. Verify line clearance, correct formulas, components, labels, lot codes, fill weights, seals, and packaging requirements. Oversee blend documentation and specification conformance before release to filling. Own sanitation verification , including environmental monitoring, ATP/swab results, trending, and corrective actions. Establish and independently verify quality standards for B2B bulk operations , where dedicated QC inspectors are not assigned. Train bulk production personnel on proper self-inspection and documentation. Lead NCR documentation, root-cause investigations, CAPA follow-up, and effectiveness checks. Write, revise, and implement SOPs, inspection checklists, work instructions, and visual standards . Identify gaps in specifications, sampling, training, labeling, equipment, sanitation, and production controls. Work closely with Engineering to translate technical requirements into measurable QC standards. Train, mentor, evaluate, and hold QC staff accountable for inspection accuracy and documentation quality. Submit a written daily report to the QC Manager covering holds, NCRs, issues, containment, staffing, and next actions. Escalate critical quality, safety, sanitation, or labeling risks immediately. Areas of Responsibility Retail /
Private Label:
Filling-line QC, label/code verification, fill weights, seals, line clearance, and outgoing inspection.
Made-to-Spec Blending:
Batch records, in-process results, and specification review before filling. B2
B Bulk:
Bulk filling, container integrity, labeling, lot traceability, pack-out inspection, and independent quality verification.
Sanitation:
Environmental monitoring, ATP/swab verification, sanitation trends, and corrective-action follow-up.
People Leadership:
Development and accountability of QC leads, inspectors, and technicians.
Authority The QC Supervisor may:
Stop production or pack-out when quality is at risk. Place products or materials on hold or quarantine. Require re-inspection. Refuse release of products, blends, or lots that do not meet specifications. Make quality disposition decisions for operations-inspected bulk product. Enforce QC SOPs and inspection standards. Recommend hiring, training actions, and discipline for QC staff. Key Performance Indicators Success will be measured through: Improved first-pass yield / right-first-time performance Reduced NCR aging and recurrence Accurate hold inventory and faster disposition Fewer outgoing quality defects and customer complaints Improved sanitation verification results Timely CAPA and corrective-action closure Current SOPs and documented QC competency Improved inspection accuracy and documentation quality Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or bachelor's degree in a technical, scientific, or quality-related field preferred. 5+ years of QC/QA experience in manufacturing , with substantial production-floor experience. 3+ years leading or supervising QC inspectors or technicians . Experience writing NCRs, SOPs, inspection procedures, and implementing them on an active production floor.

/ cGMP Sanitation and environmental monitoring SQF or equivalent GFSI standards Preferred Experience Filling, packaging, blending, or bulk pack-out. Essential oils, cosmetics, food, pharmaceutical, or similar manufacturing. Experience with sanitation verification and environmental monitoring. Experience managing quality in a high-mix manufacturing environment. Bilingual English/Spanish, depending on workforce needs.
Pay:
$85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
