SUMMARY:

Directs, coordinates and controls the sanitation function within all the facility operations. Responsible for the sanitary condition of the plant, ensuring good sanitation practices and cost-effective programs. Implements sanitation policies, programs, and procedures toward the objective of producing facility products free of extraneous material and bacterial or other contamination and complying with all regulatory and industry standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

I. Attends work regularly and on time according to assigned work schedule. This is a night position from 9pm-6am. II. 1. Supports company quality objectives, regulatory compliance, and cost effectiveness. 2. Recommends to Department Manager any necessary changes in production methods or programs to elevate food sanitation, consistent with company policies and procedures. 3. Continually reviews sanitation procedures, standards, and policies to ensure adherence to local, state and federal laws and codes governing safety, sanitation and labor relations. 4. Creates, implements, and trains staff on sanitation standard operating procedures. 5. Ensures equipment and areas are clean and sanitized in pasteurization and production prior to start times. 6. Performs equipment cleaning including Clean In Place (CIP) prior to department start times. 7. Cleans locker rooms, restrooms, and other areas. 8. Supports Department Manager in planning, organizing, and managing an effective sanitation program through training, scheduling cleaning procedures, and effective records maintenance. 9. Organizes, conducts or assists in the implementation of employee training in sanitation procedures and safety matters. 10. Trains and provides direction and leadership to the Sanitation Staff so that quality facility goods can be produced and shipped to meet customer requirements. 11. Ability to prepare/maintain Sanitation Schedule, logs, and other documentation and distribute information as needed. 12. Serves as company resource person on all sanitation matters. III. 1. Capable of exerting 20 to 100 pounds of force occasionally to handle and move sanitation equipment and chemicals. 2. Mental and visual ability to identify various forms of insects and states of cleanliness. Performs routine and non-routine tasks following complex instructions. 3. Capable of moving up and down building stairways and equipment ladders in facility to reach job assignments and perform the tasks required in the sanitation process. Tasks require standing, walking, grasping, lifting, twisting, pushing, pulling, climbing, feeling and bending. 4. Capable of understanding complex instructions and reading notices and work schedules as posted on the bulletin board. Memory skills required for recall of Sanitation Operating Procedures and sanitation regulatory requirements. IV. 1. i. Work requires, in addition to the skills normally acquired through a general high school education, specialized or technical training, which may be obtained in, specialized food industry institutions or equivalent work experience. 2. i. A minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressively more responsible experience in Sanitation in a food-processing environment, preferably a facility environment. 3. i. A relatively high level of analytical ability is required in order to find solutions to difficult sanitation problems. Ability to solve personnel and operational issues. 4. i. Independent judgment is often required. Some direct guidance is received from established procedures or instructions. Errors may result in serious quality defects with subsequent loss of customer goodwill business or possible citations and fines. 5. i. Frequent internal contact with Production workers and Supervisors. 6. i. Directly or indirectly responsible for the management, training, direction and results of company sanitation employees. V. 1. Responsible for minor repairs to the building, e.g. carpeting, wood floors, etc. Assists in the maintenance and the clean and orderly appearance of the buildings and grounds. 2. Ordering of Sanitation supplies and maintaining inventories, as necessary. VI. 1. Actively promotes corporate philosophy that a quality product safely produced is the responsibility of each employee. 2. Consistently communicates to employees at all levels the importance of individual performance in building company share value. 3. Actively promotes and demonstrates to all employees the importance and value of the customer. 4. Ensures the development of safety awareness and safety responsibility in all employees. 5.
