MVR SUMMARY
Skilled work in the installation, repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment and piping relative to wastewater/water systems. Work involves a mechanical trade knowledge and the ability to assist in enhancing a preventive maintenance program of inspection and maintenance for the lift pump stations/water/wastewater plants. In the event of a natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee may be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITES

Installs and maintains mechanical equipment in lift stations/water/wastewater plants. Assists in operating and maintaining collection system and water/wastewater plants, including all motors and pumps, valves, etc. Checks, cleans, oils, greases, adjusts, and performs major repair jobs on varied and complex machinery. Starts and stops pumps, operates accessory equipment. Reads and records gauges and meters, changes charts, collects samples, performs prescribed tests and maintains extensive records. Lubrication of small and large diameter valves, actuators, and bearings; rebuilding various pumps and valves; repairing and installing piping; repairing plant system equipment failures. Maintenance of manually, hydraulically, and electrically operated regulating valves, slide gates, various sizes and types of pumps, stationary and mobile overhead hoists and cranes, compressors and pneumatic systems, hydraulic power units, domestic water systems, and plant mechanical equipment. Assists in rebuilding, replacing, and installing pumps, refurbishing and/or rebuilding valves and associated piping. May perform rotating on call duties and after-hours emergency response. May remove and install large diameter pipeline fitting including but not limited to flanged and MJ. May perform plant inspections, safety-related inspections and maintenance and overhead crane lifting operations and inspections. Performs work related to this job description as required.

Knowledge of pipe repair with PVC, CPVC, HDPE, DIP, copper, or galvanized pipe. Knowledge of repair and maintenance procedures for the types of equipment found in Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants, Storage Facilities, Pumping Stations, and Lift Stations. Knowledge of and experience using a wide assortment of hand and power tools and other repair or maintenance equipment, including safety equipment. Knowledge of safety procedures and precautions required when performing maintenance tasks on equipment typically found in the wastewater plant. Ability to read and comprehend complex technical information and mechanical drawings concerning equipment construction, repair, and maintenance procedures. Ability to work effectively without close supervision and to make minor decisions pertaining to work problems. Ability to locate, define and repair potential problem spots and report them promptly. Ability to understand and carry out detailed oral and written instructions involving maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment relative to wastewater/water systems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must possess a High School Diploma or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and two (2) years' experience in the repair and maintenance of machinery, pumps, and electric motors. Additional qualifying education and/or experience which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License. Possession of a valid CDL (B) Florida Driver's License is preferred.
