Responsibilities Operate and control wastewater treatment processes using programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) to ensure efficient plant performance. Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of water treatment equipment, including pumps, industrial pumps, and other mechanical systems. Collect and analyze data related to water quality, flow rates, chemical levels, and system performance to ensure compliance with environmental standards. Perform heavy lifting and heavy equipment operation safely while adhering to all safety regulations and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance activities, data collection results, and incident reports for regulatory compliance. Troubleshoot equipment issues, perform repairs or coordinate repairs for wastewater systems to minimize downtime. Support the operation of tanker trucks for waste removal or chemical deliveries as needed in accordance with safety protocols. Qualifications Hold a current FL Wastewater Treatment Class C Operator's License. Proven experience working in a wastewater treatment plant or related water utility environment with a solid understanding of wastewater systems and water treatment processes. Mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience operating pumps, industrial equipment, and water treatment machinery. Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and water treatment equipment operation. Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret data accurately for environmental compliance purposes. Basic math skills for calculations related to flow rates, chemical dosages, and system measurements. Knowledge of safety regulations, proper PPE use, heavy equipment operation, and environmental standards is essential. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during routine maintenance tasks. Experience working in the energy & utilities sector is preferred but not mandatory; a proactive attitude towards safety and continuous learning is highly valued.
