A Water Treatment Specialist or Waste Water Operator operates and monitors equipment in facilities that treat wastewater. Monitors treatment processes so that water is cleaned to meet public health and environmental standards and is safe for drinking or releasing into the environment.
The Pump Station / Treatment Plant Superintendent will be responsible for leading from the field, driving production and keeping projects on track such as, but not limited to utility construction, sewer and water pump stations, and water/wastewater treatment plants. Projects range from $1M - $20M and the Superintendent will be running jobs independently within this range, managing multiple trades, and maintaining schedule, quality and safety.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Oversee daily field operations on utility and treatment plant construction projects Supervise field crews, subcontractors, and vendors Coordinate all aspects of: Underground utilities Pump stations Water & wastewater treatment systems Structural and mechanical installations Develop and maintain short-term and long-term schedules Drive production to meet or exceed project milestones Ensure all work complies with plans, specs, and quality standards Proactively identify and resolve field issues to avoid delays and cost overruns Enforce strict safety standards and jobsite compliance Manage site logistics, materials, and equipment coordination Lead project meetings, inspections, and reporting Work closely with Project Managers on budget, cost control, and manpower planning
Requirements:
10+ years of experience as a Superintendent in heavy civil / utility construction Demonstrated success running projects in the $1M - $15M range Strong experience with: Sewer and water infrastructure Pump stations Water and wastewater treatment plants Solid understanding of: Mechanical piping systems Reinforced concrete structures Civil/site work Ability to understand, grades, elevations and layouts. Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and GPS/machine control data Proven ability to lead crews, manage subcontractors, and deliver projects on schedule Willingness to travel throughout Southern New England Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills OSHA 30 (preferred)
