Job Description

The Town of Natick Department of Public Works is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team as a Station Operator with a 3T (OIT) Drinking Water License. Under the direction of the Water/Sewer Division Supervisor, this position performs skilled water treatment, maintenance, and repair work on standard and specialized water treatment and sewer pumping equipment along with related systems. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Possession of a valid Massachusetts 3T or 3T-OIT license is required. A minimum of three years of experience in the repair and maintenance of water treatment and sewer pumping equipment is preferred; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in municipal, water/sewer, or public works operations. Valid Massachusetts Class D Driver's License and Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brakes endorsement or the ability to receive the CDL within 6 months of hiring. Ability to lift 60 pounds, work in all weather conditions, and perform physically demanding labor. Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with coworkers, contractors, and the general public. The final work schedule will be determined with input from the candidate. The position requires working a minimum of one weekend day (Sat or Sun). This position may be a 4- or 5-day work week, 40 hours per week. The position requires being part of the on-call rotation. Each rotation requires availability 24 hours a day, 7 days for one assigned week at a time. Successful completion of a CORI check and DOT pre-employment physical, including drug screening. The starting salary range for Fiscal Year 2027 is as follows: The full pay scale is from $34.5558 – $43.3122 per hour, with step increases outlined in the union agreement.
