A Water Treatment Specialist or Waste Water Operator operates and monitors equipment in facilities that treat wastewater. Monitors treatment processes so that water is cleaned to meet public health and environmental standards and is safe for drinking or releasing into the environment.

PRIMARY FUNCTION
Primarily responsible for ensuring quality control of biological waste water system through monitoring to ensure compliance with State EPD regulatory requirements. Performs preventative and routine maintenance on systems. Performs all work in compliance with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Under minimal supervision, monitor mechanical waste water system equipment such as pumps, motors, electrical components, etc; perform routine/ preventative maintenance such as adjusting belts, replacing belts, changing oil in pumps to ensure optimal working condition Measure and monitor waste water chemicals; report variances to appropriate personnel Operate pumps, dewatering equipment (tanker), compressors and chemical feed equipment Maintain housekeeping tasks for work area tools, equipment, facilities and grounds Work in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations Performs other duties as assigned. Work with offal operator, fill in during emergencies
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent Valid Driver's License with demonstrated safe driving record required Must be willing to work towards NC Waste Water Level III license (attend training and take test)
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Intermediate math (add, subtract, multiply and divide) and computer skills Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character

Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in areas where required.
