  • Ohio EPA Wastewater Treatment Class I or II Position Summary Under ORC 6109 and
OAC 37457
, the Class I Water Distribution Operator performs technical, operational, and maintenance duties necessary for the safe and compliant operation of the Village of Grafton's public water system. The Operator supports the Operator of Record (ORC) in ensuring continuous compliance with Ohio EPA regulations, public health standards, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws. The Village of Grafton prefers candidates who hold dual licenses in water supply, water distribution, and wastewater treatment to support cross departmental operations and improve system resiliency. This position is classified as public employment under ORC 124 and is subject to all Ohio public sector labor, safety, and employment regulations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Water Quality Monitoring & Compliance
  • Perform daily water testing
  • Conduct monthly sampling
  • Complete EPA compliance reports
  • Maintain back flow prevention records
  • Maintain logs, chain of custody forms, and compliance documentation. Distribution System Operations
  • Perform utility locates
  • Conduct valve exercising
  • Repair or replace curb stops
  • Replace water meters
  • Assist with contractor related water service damage repairs
  • Perform resident shutoffs/turn ons Facility & Infrastructure Maintenance
  • Conduct monthly water tower inspections
  • Conduct monthly pump house inspections Wastewater Support (Preferred Qualification) (Performed only if operator holds wastewater certification)
  • Assist with wastewater sampling, testing, and reporting.
  • Support lift station checks, or plant operations.
  • Provide backup coverage for wastewater staff. Regulatory & Safety Compliance
  • Follow all requirements of OAC 37457 and
OAC 374581
.
  • Follow
OSHA/PERRP
safety standards.
  • Participate in required training and continuing education.
  • Assist with sanitary surveys and inspections. Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ohio EPA Class I Water Distribution Operator Certification.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather. Preferred Qualifications
  • Dual licensure: ○ Water Distribution Class I or II ○ Wastewater Treatment Class I or II
  • Experience in municipal water or wastewater operations.
  • Back flow certification.
  • Experience with SCADA, GIS, or digital work order systems. Working Conditions
  • Indoor/outdoor work in all weather.
  • Exposure to chemicals and confined spaces.
  • On call rotation and emergency response required.
  • Overtime may be required under ORC 124 and FLSA.
