Job Summary •

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Public Works Department Employee to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, a commitment to maintaining public water systems, and the ability to operate heavy equipment. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and quality of our water supply while providing essential services to the community. The candidate should be a fast learner with self-motivation, being able to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment with demanding deadlines and the ability to quickly and accurately learn new skills and adapt to changing situations. Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently for various water department tasks. Maintain and repair water treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with regulations. Utilize basic math skills for data collection and analysis related to water quality and system performance. Work with logic controllers and distributed control systems to monitor and control water treatment processes. Conduct regular inspections of water lines, pumps, and treatment facilities to identify maintenance needs. Perform heavy lifting as required during maintenance and repair tasks. Assist in plumbing activities related to the installation and repair of water distribution systems. Collect data on system performance and report findings to management for further action. Collaborate with team members to build effective solutions for operational challenges. Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older. A high school diploma or equivalent. Previous Public Works experience a plus. Must be able to pass a background investigation and drug screen. Valid ODEQ Water and Wastewater Operator licenses or MUST obtain within the first six (6) months of employment. Valid Oklahoma driver's license &/or Valid Oklahoma CDL. Experience in heavy equipment operation is preferred. Knowledge of water treatment processes is a plus. Basic math skills are essential for data collection and analysis tasks. Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed in various tasks. Strong problem-solving skills with a logical approach to challenges. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. A commitment to safety practices and protocols in all operations. $13.00 - $16.00 per hour
