Indianola Rural Water District #18 is seeking a dependable, hardworking individual to fill the position of Water Operator . We want someone who is a thorough, motivated person with exceptional critical thinking skills and maintains positive working relationships with IRWD #18, its members, employees and board. This position is responsible for ensuring safe, clean, and reliable water. In this energetic role, you will operate, monitor, and maintain water treatment and distribution systems, contributing directly to community health and environmental sustainability. Your expertise will help keep water flowing efficiently while adhering to strict safety and quality standards. Operate and maintain water system Perform maintenance on water towers and pump stations; weed-eat and spraying Collection of water samples for bacteriological analysis Read water meters and perform service connections/disconnections Respond to emergency calls, including nights and weekends (as required) Maintain accurate records and reports Order necessary parts/supplies in a timely manner Coordinate all activities and make necessary arrangements to ensure repairs (leaks) are completed in a timely, practical, and economical manner. Pass all required tests and certifications necessary to keep the district in full compliance with all current regulations and requirements Works closely with the district manager to ensure the district runs smoothly and efficiently Complete daily work logs Attends all regular and special meetings of the water district in order to assist the board with situations only he/she may be familiar with Develop a plan to mitigate leaks and decrease water loss to below 15% Ability to operate heavy equipment Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment, distribution lines, valves, and hydrants Maintain district vehicle; perform routine inspections, pre-trip checks, maintain detailed service records, keep truck neat and organized Must be willing to attend continuing education above what is necessary to maintain current license And other duties assigned by the district Proven experience operating water systems Knowledge of water distribution Ability to perform heavy lifting 50+ safely Knowledge of construction procedures related to infrastructure projects is a plus Class A, B, C, or D license preferred Valid Oklahoma driver's license required Ability to perform heavy lifting safely Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions Ability to obtain certifications Must be able to pass a background check Must be able to pass a drug test Ability to be bonded Must have a good driving record Salary is dependent on experience.
