Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Water Treatment Operator (UPW) and become a vital part of ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant water treatment operations. In this energetic role, you will operate and maintain water treatment systems, including ultrafiltration (UPW) units, wastewater treatment processes, and associated equipment. Your expertise will help deliver high-quality water services, support environmental regulations, and uphold safety standards across our facilities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your mechanical knowledge, control systems experience, and passion for environmental stewardship in a fast-paced utility environment. Duties Operate and monitor water treatment equipment, including pumps, filters, chemical feed systems, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), ensuring optimal performance. Maintain wastewater treatment processes by adjusting controls, collecting data, and troubleshooting system issues to meet environmental compliance standards. Conduct routine inspections of wastewater systems and water treatment units to identify maintenance needs and ensure safety protocols are followed. Perform heavy equipment operation and industrial pump maintenance or repair to support continuous plant operations. Collect and analyze operational data to optimize system efficiency, document process parameters, and prepare detailed reports for management review. Implement safety regulations by using personal protective equipment (PPE), adhering to safety procedures, and participating in safety training sessions. Assist with construction activities or upgrades within the plant while maintaining a focus on environmental compliance and operational integrity. Experience Proven experience working in wastewater treatment plants or water utility distribution systems with a strong understanding of water treatment processes. Hands-on knowledge of pump operation, industrial pump maintenance and repair, and wastewater systems management. Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and other automation technologies used in water treatment facilities. Experience working in the energy & utilities sector is highly desirable for understanding industry-specific safety regulations and operational standards. Mechanical aptitude with basic math skills necessary for equipment repair, data collection, and process adjustments. Construction experience or heavy lifting skills are beneficial for supporting plant upgrades or maintenance projects.
