Position:
Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Hours of Work:
Position requires rotating shifts, weekends and holidays. Shift hours are 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.; 3:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M.; 11:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M.
Days of Work:
Scheduled 5-day work week.
Duties:
Operates, monitors, maintains and troubleshoots the wastewater treatment facility and its processes. Operates sewage treatment and sludge processing and disposal equipment in the wastewater treatment plant to control flow and processing of sewage. Monitors control panels and adjusts valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow of sewage. Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings and test results to determine load requirements. Starts and stops pumps, engines, and generators to control flow of raw sewage through filtering, settling, aeration, and sludge digestion processes. Maintains log of operations and records meter and gauge readings. Responsible for plant operations in compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Performs custodial duties and all other duties assigned by any supervisor. Candidates must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License and pass a pre-employment drug screening.
