The City of Clinton is seeking an experienced and dependable Water Treatment Plant Operator who holds a South Carolina Class C Water Treatment Operator license or higher . WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Water Treatment Plant Operator performs skilled work in the operation, inspection, monitoring, and maintenance of the City's water treatment plant and related equipment.

Responsibilities include:

Operating and monitoring water treatment equipment and processes. Performing water-quality and laboratory testing. Monitoring and adjusting chemical feed systems and treatment processes. Operating and maintaining pumps, motors, filters, meters, generators, and related equipment. Monitoring gauges, controls, and SCADA systems. Performing filter backwashing and routine preventive maintenance. Maintaining accurate operational, laboratory, and regulatory records. Identifying equipment or treatment-process problems and taking appropriate corrective action. Safely handling and storing water-treatment chemicals. Maintaining a clean and safe plant environment. Responding to plant emergencies and operational needs. Participating in rotating shifts, on-call assignments, and emergency call-back as required. Performing other related duties as assigned.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Applicants must have: High school diploma or GED. Valid South Carolina Water Treatment Operator license at the Class C level or higher. Valid driver's license. Ability to operate, inspect, monitor, and maintain water treatment equipment. Ability to perform water-quality testing and accurately maintain operational records. Ability to work the required plant schedule, which may include rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, on-call assignments, and emergency call-back. Class B and Class A Water Treatment Operators are encouraged to apply.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

This is a full-time, non-exempt, safety-sensitive position . The selected candidate must successfully complete applicable City pre-employment requirements, which may include: Criminal background investigation Motor vehicle record review Post-offer physical examination Post-offer drug screening Verification of required licenses, education, and experience This position is subject to the City's drug- and alcohol-testing requirements, including random testing, in accordance with applicable City policy and law. The employee must maintain the required South Carolina Water Treatment Operator license and a valid driver's license throughout employment.
