Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Superintendent - Wastewater to lead and oversee the operations, maintenance, and safety of wastewater treatment facilities. Responsibilities Lead daily operations of wastewater treatment plants, ensuring all processes meet regulatory standards and environmental guidelines. Supervise and coordinate maintenance activities for water treatment equipment, pumps, industrial pumps, and heavy machinery to ensure optimal performance. Oversee the operation of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) to monitor and control plant functions efficiently. Manage data collection related to water quality, system performance, and environmental compliance; analyze trends to identify opportunities for process improvements. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all team members while adhering to safety regulations and protocols. Conduct inspections of wastewater systems, water treatment equipment, and pump operation to identify repair needs or potential issues proactively. Oversee heavy equipment operation and perform or coordinate repairs on water systems, wastewater systems, and related infrastructure as needed. Promote a safety-first environment by enforcing safety regulations, conducting training sessions, and maintaining compliance with environmental standards. Coordinate with team members on heavy lifting tasks, equipment maintenance schedules, and troubleshooting complex mechanical or electrical issues. Requirements Proven experience managing wastewater treatment plants or water utility distribution systems with a strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes. Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and water treatment equipment operation. Mechanical knowledge related to pumps, industrial pump maintenance and repair, water systems, and equipment repair techniques. Familiarity with environmental compliance standards specific to the energy & utilities sector. Ability to operate heavy equipment safely while adhering to safety regulations; experience with heavy lifting is preferred. Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret data for process optimization; basic math skills are essential. Experience working in water treatment or wastewater treatment environments; familiarity with tanker operations is a plus. Excellent communication skills for coordinating teams, documenting procedures, and reporting incidents or system issues.
