Job Description

The City of Sealy is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of a full-time Utility Worker II in the Water/Wastewater Department. The Utility Worker II performs duties essential in operating and maintaining the City's water distribution and wastewater collection system, including completing water and sewer taps, repairing water and sewer leaks, and performing preventative and corrective maintenance on water and sewer lines. There will be some meter reading and public contact. There is strenuous physical work outdoors and some after-hours/on-call work. Minimum qualifications include a High School diploma or GED equivalent, a valid Texas driver's license and an acceptable driving record, a "D" Water and Wastewater Certification, or ability to obtain one within six (6) months of employment, one (1) year experience in water or wastewater utility operations or construction (preferred), or any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities, ability to operate a backhoe, dump truck, and various handheld tools (preferred). This is a non-exempt position; hourly salary range is $22.04 - $26.00. Applicants interested in this position must submit a completed application to the Human Resources Office. EOE.
